Selank for anxiety: what the Russian anxiolytic data actually says

Selank is derived from tuftsin and was developed in Russia as an anxiolytic, and there are human clinical reports describing anti-anxiety effects. How much weight should we actually put on that body of work, given the limited independent replication?

My read is Tier 2: more human signal than the pure research peptides, but well short of large blinded RCTs. Curious whether anyone has read the original studies closely.

Tier 2 is the fair characterization. The proposed mechanism involves GABAergic and serotonergic modulation plus effects on BDNF and enkephalin degradation, and the clinical studies frequently use the intranasal route. There is real human signal, but independent large-scale replication is limited, which is what keeps it below Tier 1.

The intranasal point matters more than people realize, since a lot of forum discussion assumes injection when the actual studies used a nasal route.
