Cerebrolysin is a peptide preparation derived from porcine brain tissue, marketed in several countries for stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injury, but not approved by the FDA in the United States. Human clinical trials exist with mixed results, and meta-analyses have reached cautious or inconclusive conclusions for several indications. It is administered by injection in the countries where it is available.
