Cerebrolysin for stroke and TBI: what the meta-analyses say

Cerebrolysin is unusual for this forum because it has a substantial human trial record for stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injury in the countries where it is marketed. It is not FDA approved in the US.

The honest summary is that the meta-analyses tend to be cautious or inconclusive depending on the indication and the trials included. It is a real clinical product abroad, but the evidence is not the slam dunk the marketing sometimes implies.

The heterogeneity across the trials, in dose, indication, and quality, is what makes the meta-analyses hard to read cleanly. Real product abroad, genuinely murky evidence.
